In 1962, an idea became a blueprint for a future in long term care.

On 8-14-63, 12 beds were licensed and Honorage Nursing Home opened.

From 12 to 16 to 22 and then 40 beds.

Honorage was the twenty-first home in the state to be approved for Medicare.

The addition of beds necessitated the expansion of the laundry and kitchen.

During 6 years, Honorage grew from 12 to 88 beds.

Experienced nurses provided care to the patients. In 1970, the corporation acquired Griffin Nursing Home.

Honorage Nursing Center was completed in 1974. That same year Honorage on Warley was sold.

Honorage on Clarke Road was leased in 1975.

In 1977, Honorage Nursing Center grew to 88 beds.

Nurses, Secretaries, Social Directors, Nursing Assistants, Activity Directors, and Food Service Directors....

were needed to care for patients.

After 37 years and a new century, Honorage is still going strong.
